The documents were discovered in the Kyiv archives after Ukraine became independent in 1991. They have now been published by the Church Studies Program in cooperation with the Mykhailo Hrushevsky Institute of Ukrainian Archeography and Source Studies and the Central State Archives of the Supreme Government Institutions of Ukraine. They are of crucial importance for the study of the history of the Ukrainian Church in general, and of the Ukrainian Orthodox church in particular.
